Year 2 had a wonderful day at The Museum of Kent Life this week. They took part in a Victorian Schools workshop where they met a very strict Victorian teacher. He taught them how life for Victorian children in school was very different to how it is now. They learnt about the three ‘R’s’ reading, writing and arithmetic, used slate and chalk and discovered that if you misbehaved you would have to wear the dunce hat or even worse get the cane. Following the workshops we had the opportunity to look around the Victorian houses , ride on the tractor and visit the different farm animals including rabbits, ponies, goats and even a Snowy Owl.
