Flat Stan First Aid Visit

Students in a first aid workshop

KS2 were luck to work with Seb from Flat Stan First Aid during week 4 of this module.  After discussions about what first aid was and how we could access help to those in trouble the children got to practice a range of techniques on each other and on the model Stan.

The children were taught how they can use their jumpers and tea towels with people who may have hurt their arms or to help stop bleeding.  They were taught how to apply bandages to lots of different parts of their bodies before using the model Stan to then practice how they would support someone in cardiac arrest and who may be choking.

“We learnt about first aid; what we should do if someone bleeds, chokes or burns themselves.  We learnt where to place our hands on someone’s chest when giving CPR.  It was good to know what do incase something happens to us or our friends” Emma, Ash Class.

“We learnt what to do if someone has a nose bleed and we also learnt how to do CPR.  I think it was good.  It made me laugh when I had to be the person on the floor so that Seb, the instructor, could show us what to do.” – Will, Ash Class
