Year 5 Enjoy a Forces Workshop Day

A student uses their hands to assemble a gear system from a colorful building kit on a classroom desk.

Linked to our science this module, both Year 5 classes enjoyed an exciting Forces Workshop Day where they took part in a range of practical investigations. Throughout the day, the children explored how different forces act upon objects, including gravity, friction, air resistance and water resistance. They worked scientifically by making predictions, testing ideas, measuring results and discussing their findings. The hands-on activities helped them to see how forces affect movement and deepened their understanding through real-life experiments. It was a fun and engaging way to bring their science learning to life.

Two students collaborate in a classroom setting to adjust a wooden frame and pulley-like mechanism on a wooden board.
Three students work together at a desk to assemble a wooden structure that resembles a small ramp or bridge.
Several students stand at a table, leaning over a long, black track and wooden blocks with green strings attached.
