On an incredibly heavy and wet pitch, our Yr 6 team faced Meopham Primary School in a cup game that will live long in the memory for a truly fantastic second half performance from the opposition goalkeeper.
With few first half chances for either side, the game was 0-0 at the break. The deadlock was broken early in the second half by Meopham with a breakaway goal that was against the run of play. Going behind however, only acted as a further motivation for Hartley and we dominated the remainder of the game with wave after wave of attack on the Meopham goal. As the saying goes though, ‘it was one of those days’ and despite some great play, wonderful strikes and effort that wouldn’t look out of place on Gladiators, we simply couldn’t find the back of Meopham’s net and their goalkeeper was unquestionably the player of the match.
No cup run this year unfortunately but a huge well done to our team.
