Welcome to Nursery!
The children are settling in well and are starting to get to grips with the rules and routines of our school. We have been working really hard to encourage good listening and the following of instructions.
Our Unit of Inquiry
In this module, we are learning about “ Who We Are”; it would be wonderful if you could support our learning by sending in a family picture for your child to share with the other children. Please email your family photograph to nursery@hartley.latrust.org.uk.
During this module, we are also going to learn about differences and how we adapt to the community. The children are going to learn about different cultures, festivals and careers. Again, it would be brilliant to involve our parent community with this learning. Please send in more information about your culture, career and festivals or events that your family celebrate and you wish to share.
Absence
Please inform the office if you are aware of any dates that your child will be absent from Nursery. In addition, please call office if your child is unwell and unable to attend or send a text message to the absence test service, 07860 054519.
PE
Our PE lessons will be starting on Wednesday 17th September 2025. We will have two sessions each week. Please bring your child to school in their PE kits every Wednesday and Thursday. Please refer to the school website for information regarding PE uniform. We recommend footwear with velcro straps to encourage independence for your child.
Reading Books
From Monday 15th September, your child will to bring home a book they have chosen for you to read to them. They will have the opportunity to change this book each morning. Your child will also bring home a Reading Record. Please record each time your child shares a book with you by putting the date, book title and your initials. There is also space for you to add a comment. If you have recorded 5 times in a week your child will get a stamp/sticker in their Reading Record book and a dojo point. There will be a certificate given to one child nominated as ‘Reader of the Week.’
Junk modelling
The children have started to show interest in creating models and pictures in our Creative Area. Please could you send in any unwanted empty boxes (no bigger than a cereal box please), yoghurt pots, tubes, lids etc that the children can use for their creations. Please flatten any boxes before sending them in. Thank you.
Phonics Meeting
On Tuesday 23rd September, from 6 -7pm, we will be holding a meeting in the school hall to give you some more information about our phonics scheme, Animaphonics. We will talk about how we teach phonics in school and also give some suggestions for how you can support your child at home.
Tapestry
We use Tapestry to record parts of your child’s learning at school. Please do add photos of significant events at home or days out or anything new your child has done at home (for example, riding a bike or writing out a card to a relative or friend). We also put the newsletter onto Tapestry but we do not answer questions or queries via this platform. If you need to ask us about something or clarify anything please email nursery@hartley.latrust.org.uk, Many Thanks.
