Year 6 were fortunate to take part in an exciting science workshop with a local company.
The children took part in three workshops: DNA sequencing, DNA extraction and a 3D printing demonstration. They learnt all about how our genetics affect many factors, including physical appearance and personality.
The children were then able to use specialised scientific equipment to extract the DNA of a strawberry – this process involved squashing the strawberry, and creating a solution, which included soap and water.
As well as this, Year 6 were able to witness a 3D printer creating a range of tools, including gears and a mini rocket toy. This demonstration linked perfectly to the 3D modelling the children completed last year.
